Last day of vacation looking out at the moon hanging over the vast ocean. Man. The moon is simply amazing to gaze at. So bright. So big. So beautiful. Lights up so much of the water.
And I had a thought.
The moon has no light source of its own - it simply reflects the light of the sun.
You and I are children of the light. Once dead in our sins and once a slave to the flesh - we’ve been made alive with Christ. Here. Now. Not later in eternity. But. Now. Right where you sit.
We have no light source of our own, yet we’ve been given His light. And we reflect that beautiful light. Yes. We reflect the very image of Christ into the earth.
We shine in the darkness, so other vessels of light can find and navigate their course.
We shine in the darkness, so the lost will know the way home.
We shine in the darkness, so the hurting will know the dawn of their peace is coming.
We shine in the darkness, because without complaint - it’s what we’ve been created to do.
We shine in the darkness, so people can learn to “see” while stuck in the dark.
Embrace the light.
Be thankful for the light.
