So, today was incredibly embarrassing. I was texting like a wild man while walking around the airport in a super hurry. All I wanted to do was to use the restroom, and when I turned the corner of the lobby wall I thought to myself “man, this looks different.” Well, a few seconds later several WOMEN were screaming at me. I was getting looks of death.
Yep. Found myself in the ladies bathroom! It’s hard to embarrass me, but man - I felt like I had crawled out of there.
I knew where I wanted to be, but I missed my destination. I knew where I needed to be, but was distracted and missed the obvious signs.
We can be in such a hurry to get our own way, to see some results, to gain popularity, to be loved, to belong, to have better, or to get out of the tough life circumstances we are in - that we miss the freeway off ramp to His way.
We end up in the wrong:
- career paths
- business deals
- work places
- recreational groups
- friendship circles
- behaviors and self care habits
- ministerial goals
- doctrinal belief sets
Because we weren’t truly listening to our GPS (God’s Positioning System) we end up in the wrong place. And, here’s the thing - you will never find peace or rest in a place that you weren’t called to. Yes. Some places are meant for someone else, and not you.
Think about it, those women were finding rest in the RIGHT rest-room! What was right for them, certainly wasn’t right for me. Me. All I found was shame and condemnation. Now, yes I could have stayed there - but I’m pretty sure I’d have been arrested!
That’s the thing, you will never feel comfortable or at true peace in a place you shouldn’t be. His Spirit will constantly tug on you to keep moving your feet in faith to the right place. Your own heart will arrest you, and keep you from a lack of satisfaction.
What’s more, a few minutes after I had walked out of the restroom - I saw paramedics rush to one of the gates. A man had collapsed as their flight was boarding, and there were several medics tending to him
I didn’t get in their way, or rush over and say “hey, I’m an ex-pastor.” But, I did hover around the area and pray. I have no idea what happened to this man, but for some reason my prayer kept coming back to salvation. And my heart of hearts believes that what had taken him to the ground, did so from a place of grace and goodness so that he wouldn’t perish or be condemned with the world.
As this man was being wheeled off by the medics, I looked up and saw this gentleman’s flight boarding information. The sign said “Newark departing at 3:00 PM.”
Yes. New Ark 3:00 PM.
Jesus is our NEW ARK, and JESUS is the NT truth of Noah’s ark. At 3 PM Jesus gave up His spirit upon that tree RIGHT ON TIME AS PROPHESIED, and in that single moment the veil that separated us from God was torn. There is safety and life for all who choose to walk through that torn veil and open ark door.
Jesus HIMSELF said those who believe have “crossed from death to life and shall not be judged.” John 5:24
Folks. Eternity is our FINAL destination, and due to our distractions or pride - metaphorically speaking, we must not get caught with our pants down in the wrong restroom!
Once the door to the plane closed - no more people could board.
Once the door to the ark closed. There was no second chance.
No matter what Facebook says, once the door to our earthly lives closes - there is no second chance for hearts of stone to become hearts of flesh.
Don’t stay long in the wrong type of resting place. For on the Lord’s Day every knee shall bow, and every tongue will confess guilt or innocence that “deliverance and strength can be found only in the Lord alone.” Isaiah 45
Faux peace, is no peace at all.
